First United Methodist Church of Saline
What is an Endowment Fund? A restricted permanent fund used for specific purposes.
Our Church has one―It was established in 1995 and amended in 2007 by our Church Conference to allow us the opportunity to give a lasting gift to the Church. Your bequests and gifts are currently invested through the United Methodist Foundation, UMF Collective Investment Funds of Michigan LLC, and have averaged 6.4% annual growth over the last 5 years. (http://www.umfmichigan.org/)
What happens to the income? Up to 5% (4% currently being used) of the fund can be used for nonrecurring purposes to support the mission of our Church. In recent years, almost $30,000 was and is being used to support special projects including: 175th Anniversary Celebration, Miracle Sunday, and audio/visual and infrastructure upgrades. These items are not regularly budgeted and your Endowment Fund was able to support them for the betterment of our church. This year there was $9,570.80 available for additional nonrecurring religious, charitable or educational purposes. As an added level of approval, disbursements require the final approval of your Church Council.
How can you give to create your own lasting legacy? Gifts may be in the form of outright gifts of cash or stock or can be from your estate and/or trust. Contributors of $1000 or more will be recognized on the Endowment Fund plaque which is displayed on the hallway wall just outside the church office. Check it out. Remember you do not have to be deceased to be a member. Live to see what your gift is doing. Sounds like a WIN WIN result.
The First United Methodist Church of Saline is wheelchair accessible.
