Scholarships

FUMC Saline currently offers several scholarships in recognition of academic achievement as well as church and community involvement. These scholarships are funded by endowment earnings, special offerings, fund raising and member contributions.  Scholarship applications for 2026 will be available March 1, 2026.  The deadline to apply is April 15, 2026.

UPPER CLASS SCHOLARSHIP
  • The Upper Class Scholarship is awarded to members/active participants of First UMC Saline who have completed at least one year of post secondary education and are continuing their education at an accredited institution of higher learning. Qualified recipients are selected annually in May. Recipients should plan to be formally recognized at the Graduation Sunday service at First UMC Saline, which typically occurs on the last Sunday of May or first Sunday of June. 
CARR MEMORIAL COLLEGE SCHOLARSHIP
  • The Carr Memorial College Scholarship is awarded to graduating Saline High School seniors who are members/active participants of First UMC Saline and will be enrolling in accredited higher educational institutions. Qualified recipients are selected annually in May. Recipients should plan to be formally recognized at the Graduation Sunday service at First UMC Saline, which typically occurs on the last Sunday of May or first Sunday of June.

ED AND INA MAY DOUB SCHOLARSHIP
  • The Ed & Ina May Doub Scholarship is awarded to graduating local high school seniors who are members/active participants of First UMC Saline and will be enrolling in accredited higher educational institutions. Qualified recipients are selected annually in May. Recipients should plan to be formally recognized at the Graduation Sunday service at First UMC Saline, which typically occurs on the last Sunday of May or first Sunday of June.

DOROTHY BREDERNITZ TRADE SCHOOL SCHOLARSHIP
  • The Dorothy Bredernitz Trade School Scholarship is awarded to candidates pursuing a trade school education leading to a career in construction or machining. Candidates can either be graduating high school seniors or those already in a trade school program. Qualified recipients are selected annually in May. Recipients should plan to be formally recognized at the Graduation Sunday service at First UMC Saline, which typically occurs on the last Sunday of May or first Sunday of June.

JIM AND LINDA TUTTLE CHRISTIAN SERVICE SCHOLARSHIP
  • The Jim & Linda Tuttle Christian Service Scholarship is awarded to candidates enrolled in an undergraduate, graduate or post graduate program in preparation for a career in full-time Christian service. Qualified recipients are selected annually in May. Recipients should plan to be formally recognized at the Graduation Sunday service at First UMC Saline, which typically occurs on the last Sunday of May or first Sunday of June..
